Questions
Mosquito and tick questions
How much does it cost?
It depends on the yard, so we quote after a walk-through. The size of the lot, how much shade and brush it has, whether ticks are a concern and how many visits fit your season all change the number. The quote is in writing and lists each visit.
How often do you come?
Every 21 days, from about mid-April to late October, which comes to about nine visits. A cold or very wet stretch can move a visit, and we text you the evening before.
Will it get rid of every mosquito and tick?
No. A season of visits reduces how many mosquitoes rest in your shrubs and fence lines and how many ticks wait at the edge of the yard. Mosquitoes fly in from neighboring properties, and ticks come home on people and pets. Wear repellent and check for ticks after time outdoors.
Can the kids and the dog play outside after a visit?
Keep children and pets off treated areas until the spray has dried. We write the time on your visit sheet. Licensed applicators follow the product label, and we tell you what we used and where. If anyone in the house has a health concern, or you have a vegetable garden or a fish pond, tell us at the walk-through so we can plan around it.
What if they come back between visits?
Tell us within seven days of a visit and we will come back and re-treat the same area at no charge. That covers the areas we treated. It doesn't cover a neighbor's yard, an area we weren't asked to treat, or a visit missed because the gate was locked.
What happens if it rains after a visit?
Heavy rain in the first hours can wash a treatment off the leaves. If it happens, call or text and we will look at whether that area needs another pass, under the same terms as any visit.
Do I need to be home?
No. Unlock the gate, tell us about dogs and which areas to skip, and we leave the visit sheet on the door.
Do you offer a plant-oil-based option?
Yes, on request. We use it where it works and tell you if it needs closer visits, because it works differently from the standard product. Results vary.
Do you treat ticks on dogs and cats?
No. We treat the yard. Your vet is the one to ask about tick prevention for your pets.
Do you spray the whole lawn?
No. Mosquitoes rest in shrubs, fence lines, ivy and shady corners, and ticks wait where lawn meets woods. We treat those places and leave open lawn alone.
